A person in whom there is nothing false. That is how Jesus described Nathaniel. Jesus later said that he saw Nathaniel as he sat beneath a fig tree. Perhaps Nathaniel spent a lot of time beneath that fig tree. Like the students of the Law, perhaps Nathaniel sought to know God from beneath that fig tree. Could that be what Jesus meant? Could it be that He responds when we seek to know Him more closely? At Emmanuel, we worship the God who responds to those who seek Him with honest and open hearts.
