Music MinistryMusic plays a vital role in the life of Emmanuel. It is considered important to the enrichment of our lives as we grow together. As an essential element in our worship, music helps us give expression to our faith. Childrens music ministry at Emmanuel includes opportunities for those age four and above. The preschool choir helps those children ages four and five to understand basic concepts of music. The children learn by listening, singing, creating, and playing instruments. These concepts are expanded for first through third graders in Music Makers and fourth through sixth graders in Young Musicians. The choir programs build upon one another until the children emerge equipped to enjoy music through knowledge of its methods, its richness, and its ability to express their worship of God. Teenagers are given opportunities to explore and develop their musical gifts as they participate in Youth Choir. The Youth choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons and welcomes youth from other churches which do not offer youth music programs. Special notice is given to instrumental talents among Emmanuels children, youth, and adults. Opportunities are provided for performance and recognition of those developing their gifts. As instrumentalists mature in their playing skills, they are used more frequently in worship as needs arise. The Emmanuel Ringers rehearse weekly with our Whitechapel handbells during the school year, ringing for worship and in the community. The Sanctuary Choir is comprised of all age adults who love to sing and who are willing to rehearse weekly to prepare for worship services. This choir is the heart of Emmanuels music ministry. It plays a most significant role in leading the church family to worship. The Heritage Singers, Emmanuels senior adult choir, meet most Friday mornings. They prepare a variety of music and sing periodically for the Heritage Club meetings and at various nursing homes in the community. |
