Membership
at Emmanuel
Commitment
to Jesus Christ is the foundation of a full and meaningful life. A commitment
to become a part of a local church offers opportunity to be involved
with a community of fellow pilgrims committed to Christ. Acknowledging
Jesus Christ as Lord is the basic doctrine around which Emmanuel church
membership is conditioned.
You may present yourself for membership at one of two occasions: (1)
At the close of a worship service an invitation will be given to make
a public decision. You may come forward to be greeted by one of our
ministers and then presented to and welcomed by the congregation. (2)
You may join by meeting with one of the ministerial staff to discuss
your desire to join Emmanuel. At the next monthly business meeting,
you will be presented to and welcomed by your new church family.
You may join Emmanuel in one of the four following ways:
-
BY PROFESSION OF FAITH AND BAPTISM. Your profession
of faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is an initial commitment
to Him for salvation.
-
BY TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP. If you are currently
a member of another Baptist church, you may request that we write
that church telling of your desire to join Emmanuel. They will send
a confirmation of your membership and transfer your membership to
Emmanuel.
-
BY STATEMENT OF FAITH. If you have made a prior
commitment to Jesus Christ in another Baptist church and/or received
believer's baptism by immersion, you may join by your statement
of faith.
-
BY REQUEST FOR ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP. If you wish
to participate actively in our life as a fellow Christian without
relinquishing your affiliation with another body you may request
to be an associate member. This dual relationship shall entitle
you to all privileges and responsibilities of regular membership
except for vote in church business meetings and election to leadership
and teaching responsibilities which are best discharged by full
members. Associate membership is nontransferable.
